This poem describes how tears serve the dual purpose of cleansing not only the eyes but also as an effective release for the all the pent up emotions within while cleansing the soul.
The Cleansing of the Soul
Unspoken words,
Unexpressed sentiments,
Pent up emotions,
Well up,
Seeking release,
In a torrent of words.
The soul articulates itself,
In flowing tears,
Unrestrained,
Until cleansed,
Of shame and guilt,
Pain and loss,
Then truth prevails,
In the sanctuary of the mind.
Light filters in,
The day dawns,
Into the freedom of light,
The soul moves on,
With life!

I love writing free verse, a style I have discovered lately. It doesn't come naturally to me. However I do recognize it is as a strong weapon to explore the depth of thoughts and emotions in verse.
